About Us

SFV Convention, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting recovery through Alcoholics Anonymous and welcoming participation from Al-Anon Family Groups. Each year, we host the San Fernando Valley AA Convention, a three-day event held during the last weekend of January, drawing over 3,000 attendees from across Southern California and beyond.

Our Mission

To provide a spiritual, educational, and inclusive environment for individuals in Alcoholics Anonymous and Al-Anon to gather, share experience, strength, and hope, and celebrate ongoing recovery.

What We Do

Now entering its 50th year in 2026, the San Fernando Valley AA Convention is an annual gathering rooted in the principles of AA and supported by a network of local volunteers. The weekend convention includes:

Local Roots, Widespread Impact

While the convention welcomes participants from across the country, the majority of our attendees live in the San Fernando Valley and surrounding Southern California communities. The event serves as an important local tradition in the recovery community.

Annual Theme & Fundraisers

Each year, the convention features a new theme, logo, and color scheme, unveiled in the months leading up to the event. These themes reflect the spirit of recovery and renewal and are incorporated into printed materials, merchandise, and signage.

To support the event and keep registration accessible, we host pre-convention fundraisers such as dances, comedy nights, and fellowship gatherings throughout the fall and winter.

Registration

Convention registration typically opens 3–4 months prior to the event. All proceeds go toward event costs, venue rental, and scholarship support for those in need. The event is self-supporting through registrations and fundraising, in alignment with AA’s 7th Tradition.

Attendees may pre-register online at sfvaac.org or register in person during the convention weekend.

Governance & Transparency

SFV Convention, Inc. is led by a volunteer Board of Directors and supported by dozens of trusted servants across various committees. We are committed to operating transparently and responsibly in service of our fellowship.
